Shabby Chick - knitted soft furnishings, hand made in the Isle of Harris

**Irene is happy to have returned to Harris and regularly trades as ‘Shabby Chick’ at the Handmade Harris craft fairs in the Tarbert Community Centre.**

Irene fell in love with Harris when she taught here in the 1970s and always dreamed of retiring to the island. Although it has taken longer than anticipated, her dream is finally a reality and she is happily settled in Tarbert. To keep herself occupied, Irene tried to think of something that would communicate how she felt about Harris and its beauty. This has resulted in her discovering balls of tweed trimmings or 'selvedges' which knit up into amazing rugs, seat pads, scarves and shawls. Each item is totally unique as there is no way of knowing which colours will become available at any given time, which is both exciting, challenging and recycling at its best!
