Tarbert is the island's main town and ferry port but is small, friendly and quiet with several good places to eat.  Kinnoull is literally a 2 minute drive from the ferry terminal and is ideally situated for access to all amenities.

There are 2 hotels with public and lounge bars and a variety of shops including butcher, newsagent, general grocer, hairdresser and craft shop.  Lunches and evening meals are served at both hotels and the First Fruits Tearoom is open during the holiday season.

Public transport is available to all areas of Harris & Lewis.

The beautiful beaches on the west coast of Harris are perfect for picnics whilst the east coast has a more dramatic rocky landscape.  Touring Harris and adjoining Lewis feels like real exploration and there are many museums and archaeological sites to visit.  For an active holiday, try power-kiting and surfing, paintballing and go karting on Lewis, or the more traditional walks, golf and fishing on Harris.
